Do you have the desire and time to help drive the development and future performance of The Ravensbourne Project?
The Ravensbourne Project’s purpose is to support parents and carers of children with a disability or emerging special need, with their parenting and caring needs by enhancing the variety of support services offered to those who have a child or young person with a disability or special need and continuing to develop a range of quality services for carers of children that recognise a need for support in their parenting responsibilities.
What do we need?
Trustees are sought with a range of backgrounds:
Fundraising
Corporate/charity/legal administration
Management in the voluntary sector
Strategic development
Social Services
Education
Disability
Human Resources
or a genuine commitment and interest in supporting our work.
The Board aims to reflect the diverse community with which we work. We welcome applications from all sections of society who have the appropriate skills and experience, but particularly from those communities that are currently under represented.
What is involved?
The Board meets approximately four times a year and has an Annual General Meeting. Meetings are usually held in the evening. Trustees are expected to attend every meeting. Appointments are initially for 1 to 3 years.
Trustees are an integral part of the management of the charity – they support and direct the activities of the management team and are encouraged to take an interest in a particular area of our activity.
In your role as Trustee you will receive the training and support necessary to do the tasks required, you will gather an understanding of the organisation and take group responsibility for setting the direction for the organisation for the future – just as importantly you will have fun and develop great satisfaction from helping support many children and their families in Lewisham.
Trustees are unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Interested?
The first step is to contact Barbara Every, the Project Manager, for an informal talk and to arrange a visit. Tel: 020 8695 2661. Email: office@ravensbourneproject.org.uk
Prospective members will then be invited to meet with two Board members for an interview. Subject to all checks and a satisfactory interview you would be invited to become a co-opted member. Full membership would be voted on at the following AGM.
