About Us

The Ravensbourne Project is a registered charity and also a company limited by guarantee. It was incorporated on the 28th March 1996. It originated from three charities, the Ravensbourne Toy and Equipment Library, Ravensbourne Link and the Handen Road Community Toy Library, which together have been established in Lewisham since 1976.

What does it do?
The Ravensbourne Project provides services, information, and support to anyone who lives in the Borough of Lewisham and who has caring responsibilities for a child/young person with a disability or special need.

How is it funded?
Management, administration and some running costs are funded by a core grant from London Borough of Lewisham. Additional funding comes from our own fundraising, service level agreements, the Carer’s grant, commissioned projects, spot purchasing and various government initiatives.

Who can use the services?
These services may be used by anyone who lives or works in the Borough of Lewisham with a child with a disability or an emerging special need.

Where are services delivered?
Services are delivered at two locations: South Lewisham Health Centre (Ravensbourne Project Early Years Group) and 4 Crantock Road Catford SE6  (Carers Breaks and Administrative Base)

How is Ravensbourne Project Managed
As a charity and company limited by guarantee Ravensbourne Project has a Board of Directors who are also the Trustees of the Charity. The board members come from a diverse background and always include representatives of parents/carers of children that utilise the service.

The day-to-day management of the organisation is the responsibility of the Project Manager – Barbara Every, with support from individual service managers.

There is a formal opportunity for any member of the public or service user to discuss matters with the Directors/Trustees at the organisation’s AGM (usually held in the last quarter of the year) and at other open days throughout the year.

Would you like to become a trustee?
You should, in the first instance, contact the Project Manager who will tell you about the next step.
